Review: Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel

I love shopping at Sephora because of the samples that they give out.  Last time I was there, I received a 1 oz. sample of Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel (8 oz. is $35).  p39274_heroAbout Peter Thomas Roth, courtesy of Sephora.com:

After personally searching—without success—for therapeutic products to save and soothe his problem skin, Peter Thomas Roth did what any budding entrepreneur would do, he created them himself. In 1993 he launched his eponymous line—a comprehensive collection of products designed to treat everything from breakouts and brown spots to wrinkles and redness. With breakthrough formulations designed especially for skincare professionals, as well as for at-home use, Peter Thomas Roth offers men and women of all ages—and skin types—specialized products that really work.

And the cleanser:

This antiaging cleansing gel provides an exhilarating, peachy-clean freshness to help produce a beautiful, fresh, youthful-looking complexion.

An advanced deep pore resurfacing action increases cell turnover to help diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Ideal for all skin types, except sensitive.

I really got excited when I saw that this cleanser contains salicylic acid, which I need for my acne prone skin.  Well I have been using this all week (really good size sample, don’t need much product) and it is very drying to my skin.  Usually I can do without a moisturizer, but I absolutely have to with this.  Also, it does not clear my blemishes as well as other cleansers.  This may work well for some, but for $35 it is definitely not for me.  I wouldn’t even purchase it for $5.

It’s not all bad though as it did remove all traces of makeup and it was safe to use around my eye area.
