Morning fire on my face!

This morning I really needed to do something with the hair on my face.  Yes I’m really that hairy!  I usually shave it off with a razor (NOT GOOD!  I know!), but this morning I decided to use my hair removal lotion since I have not used it in a while.  Remover of choice:

sbs-4484451

Description from http://www.sallybeauty.com:

Fast and effective hair removal
Results last longer than shaving
Contains depilatory and calming balm
Calming balm soothes skin and helps restore normal chemical balance
Easy to use

Pre-tested under medical supervision and found safe and effective when used according to directions on normal skin. GiGi Hair Removal Cream gently eliminates body and leg hair in just five to eight minutes. This highly effective, gentle formula contains cooling cucumber and aloe vera to soothe and calm the skin during treatment.
Do not use on chapped, sunburned or irritated skin.

Apply Hair Removal Cream to the desired area making sure hair is thickly covered. Check a small area after five minutes. If hair does not remove easily, wait two minutes and then check again. Allow cream to remain on you skin for five to eight minutes, but do NOT exceed eight minutes of total treatment time. Wipe off with a damp cloth and rinse completely with lukewarm water. Pat dry and apply calming balm.

This can be found at Sally Beauty Supply for $6.99 (or $4.99 with Beauty Card) and I’ve had it for a little over a year.  I’ve never had any problems with this and even though it says it is for bikini and legs, I use it for the really stubborn hair on my face.

So this morning I washed and moisturized my face and everything was cool.  Soon as I applied the hair remover to my face, especially my upper lip, my face started burning!  It felt like I’ve had it on my face for twenty minutes or something.  Against the common sense that I should immediately remove this from my face before it falls off, I left it on for around five minutes while I shaped up my eyebrows.  The whole time I was praying that my face would not be extremely red.

I wiped off the remover and my upper lip was really stinging, so I applied the calming balm that came with the kit and it worked a little.  Even now, 12 hours after, my face is still stinging!  I don’t know if my face reacted like that because I haven’t done it in a while, or if it had a reaction to my face cleanser (I’m trying a new one with a review coming soon as I finish the sample bottle!).  I hope my face does not feel like this forever.  😦
