The other week (around two weeks ago), I used the Aphogee two-step protein treatment in my hair. I have reduced the amount of breakage I experience and my hair was still pretty soft afterwards. So this last weekend, I followed my usual ritual of pre-pooing with the Aphogee 2-minute reconstructor. BIG MISTAKE! My hair was not completely damaged, but it was stiff and felt slightly brittle. This was a huge shock because for the past few months, my hair has been really soft. Also, I think that the fact that the conditioner I used (Mizani Fulfyl or Botanifying…I can’t remember) is a mixture of protein and moisture. So that, the reconstructor, and the 2 step are the main reasons I believe my hair was so hard.
So how do I remedy this? While I have the Mizani, I’m going to have to make sure I pre-poo with a moisturizer, such as olive oil. I plan on getting a relaxer this weekend, so I’ll use the reconstructor then. The next wash, I’ll start using the olive oil. I think after this Mizani is used up I’m going to return to KeraCare. The KeraCare poo and condish made my hair really soft and healthy. The only thing I did not like about it is that the Humecto condish is really thin.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to get my hair back on track.
